We are Brian and Clarissa Krahn and we are the founders of Ministerios Ancla de Amor. Living and fulfilling our unique calling has been an honor and it is something that we have never taken lightly.

To think that our loving heavenly father would entrust all of these beautiful children into our care is something that we would have never imagined. It is challenging to say the least!

We founded Ministerios Ancla de Amor in 2013 out of our rented home in San Carlos with only

a handful of children. We had humble beginnings, but God has steadily grown our ministry to what it is today. Currently thirty three children live at Ancla de Amor and we employ eight people. In addition, we have three full time Canadian missionaries serving alongside us.

We strive to provide the best care possible to the children that live here. We do our best to equip them with the tools and abilities that will meet their full potential. Our core belief is that God intended children to grow up in a safe and loving family, therefore we have designed our ministry in such a way that we can demonstrate home life to them.

We are not looking to replace their parents or families we do this in order to show them what a healthy family unit should look like.

In return we wish for them to learn to make wise choices for when they become a parent.

All of our children have a complicated past. The majority of them have been removed from their homes due to neglect, physical, sexual abuse or abandonment. They all carry emotional trauma when they arrive at Ancla. Our team is dedicated and committed to helping each child work through their difficult past. Each child handles this differently and each one requires special care and attention. Healing and transformation always begins once trust is established and from there we have a foundation to build on. However, this takes time. We have a professional Psycologist that works with our children, and our care providers receive the proper training to know how to work with these types of situations. Our full time Chaplain is also available to our staff and our children to provide spiritual care. Helping children understand their true identity is a significant part of their recovery. Children arrive here feeling unloved, insignificant and unwanted. But over the course of time we help them understand the contrary, and that is, that God does love them, and that they are not forgotten and also that He has a special plan for their lives. We have seen the power of God in real ways as the children have grown. This can take years to accomplish. In addition to providing therapy, care and love to the children, we are also responsible to put all the pieces of their lives back together. Our full time lawyer dedicates his time towards ensuring that all the legal aspects of their lives are in order. Often, children arrive unregistered and without birth certificates. As a result they are often not registered for health care or school. One would think that the social service office would assist in this process, but the simple truth is that this is our responsibility as an association. Additionally, when we have a situation with a child where charges need to be pressed against an abuser, it is also our responsibility to detect and understand the use, report it to the investigators office, and to file charges. These scenarios are always difficult for the victims and it requires additional care and support from all the staff at Ancla.

We are very proud of our staff and thankful for each one. They all have a unique role. Through

their hard work and dedication they are bringing change to the lives of our children as well as to our community and world. It is a privilege to serve together and it is with great respect and honor we do our best to provide love and care to the children that God has entrusted to us. We invest greatly into them, as we truly desire to provide them with a new beginning and a new opportunity at life in order to become the persons that God created them to be. Hello, Our names are Cristian and Belen. I am the sub-director of Ministerios Ancla de Amor. I am originally from Guaymas, Sonora and my wife is originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos. I have served our Lord Jesus at Ancla since the day it was founded in 2013, along with Brian and Clarissa; it has been an adventure and an indescribable blessing to walk together with them to this day. My beautiful wife has been by my side supporting me in my calling for more than five years while serving in Ancla. Our great desire is to be a good model individually as a young couple for all the children who are in the orphanage and with God’s help to instruct children in the best way we know how and so we can also lead each one of them to Jesus Christ.

It is an honor today to be called subdirector, it has not been an easy road, but I assure you that it has been worth it and rewarding. It is my calling and passion to serve my brothers and sisters in Christ, Ancla’s staff and each and every one of the children who were, are and will be at Ministerios Ancla de Amor.

Belen and I are deeply grateful for your prayers, for your immense support to us and for our ministry that God has called us. A big thank you for every word of encouragement to our lives every time you see us.

I am 31 years old. I was born in the City of Querétaro, Mexico.

I always wanted to have a “normal family”, you know, mom and dad, but; When I was 7 years old, my sister and I were separated from my mother. There was no picture of my father there, so after that, a new place became my home, it was an orphanage. My mom couldn’t take care of us because of her drug problem, however, she was a loving mom, a hard-working woman, although a bit liberal.

It was very difficult to understand what was happening with my life at that time. It was very difficult to understand why I couldn’t live with my family, so living in the orphanage became very difficult for me.

I used to feel without purpose in life, I tried to kill myself, I felt very empty, I felt like I didn’t belong to anything or anyone, so I started doing things to prove myself that I had some value, things that weren’t appropriate for a younger girl. I was 11 years old, so after three different orphanages, Social Services gave me one last chance to behave “as they said” and they took me to a fourth orphanage, the name is “Pan de Vida”. There was something different about that place.

At the age of 12, after three months of having arrived, they sent me to a Christian Camp, and there Jesus met me with his tender love for him. So, I gave him my life. There the Holy Spirit begins to transform my life.

When I was 14 years old, God gave me the opportunity to go to a short music program at a Christian institute, it was an incredible blessing for me. And I also had the opportunity to play flag football with the Pan de Vida team. God also used music and sports to heal me.

When I was 20 years old, I had the opportunity to be selected by a company for a Trainees scholarship program. The company paid for my college degree, and I had to work for the company. So, I graduated in Communication Sciences, and they hired me. In total I worked there for five years. It was incredible. But when I turned 25, God began to call me to do something different, God was calling me to “do something for others. “Help others” so I quit my job, and went to serve Pan de Vida, my home. It was so intense, so beautiful, tired too, but I understood that God was still changing me. I used to think… I’m helping orphans here, but God was working on me too.

This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. There are no returns at all. And at the end of 2021 I finish my time working and serving there, it was one of the most difficult decisions to make in my life. But it was the perfect time to move.

2022 was a very interesting year for me. It was a transition in every way. I was sharing the word of God in a community on the outskirts of Querétaro with my sisters and friends. The group of women to whom we share Jesus, are now part of the family of God. I have been taking some courses in an online Bible institute, I even saw myself already doing missions in another country, but there was no clarity, I was very stressed about the future, but in April of this year I received a call from another ministry called “Ancla de Amor”.

It is another orphanage; it was strange since I thought that I would not work for a long time with orphans, but God knows better, and He will do his perfect will in my life. I decided to say yes, so I left my city and came to the North of the country to get out of my safety zone and thus begin a deeper learning of what it is like to be a missionary in your own country but far from home. I’m even learning a new position. It has been an incredible faith experience, very moving in every way, but most of all I am honored to be able to serve God, extend his kingdom, praise his name but I still understand that it is not about what I do, but who I am. in Him. Now my identity is placed in him. It is about loving him, fixing his gaze on him, imitating him, being upright. I used to think that being a Christian would make you perfect and pure forever, but this is not the case, the key is to remain in Christ. I share one of the verses that God gave me to take that step of faith and see Sonora.

Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about…how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. 12 May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

My name is Veronica Marquez. I’m a native from Guaymas Sonora and I am working at Ancla as a care giver. I enjoy singing worship songs to the Lord. I am very grateful to the Lord because he put me in a place where I’ve found peace. I also feel the presence of God here at Ancla. The kids’ love gives me so much strength, I know that without their love and God’s love I wouldn’t be able to perform this job. Hi, my name is Cole Krahn. I am a missionary in Sonora, Mexico at Ancla de Amor children’s home. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and how I got here. My parents moved to Mexico when I was 6 or 7 years old. They ended up starting Ancla de Amor and I grew up in the orphanage scene.

For me, this had many challenges when I was younger. When I was the ages 12/14 I really struggled and honestly, it was because I didn’t understand why my parents had to do what they did. This line of work can take 100% of your energy and I just didn’t understand what they were doing and why they did it. But as I grew older, I began to understand, and I wanted to help. I realized that I was being selfish and what my parents were doing is incredible.

When I turned 16 I finished high school and I started working full time at Ancla. For the next two and a half years having been given the privilege to serve, they were the best few years of my life, I fell in love with Ancla, and I was willing to help in any way possible and any time. I ended having some paperwork problems, so I decided to go back to Canada to figure out those problems and also to find out the direction God wanted me to go.

If returning to Ancla, was it my calling, or if it was just the only thing I had ever known? So, I went to Canada and started working and did my paperwork and things were going well at work I was doing well. Shortly after arriving in Canada, I felt like I was missing something. I ignored it at first, but I prayed every day for God to lead me to where He wanted me to be. And as time passed the feeling of me missing something just got stronger.

I was struggling with just working to put more and more money in the bank. God had opened some doors for me to come back for a 6-month term. It was absolutely amazing when I got back to Ancla, I could see the way God has worked here even more than when I left the first time. It is incredible. The void that I had or whatever I was missing was filled.

I have committed to being a full-time missionary. I have no plans of leaving. My job description would be a yard foreman. I take care of all the maintenance and all the materials and etc. as well as a chauffeur.
